Yesterday I looked out of the window and saw the sunlight shining on the water and before I knew it I’d reached for the camera only to find the camera battery flat so the next best thing was to grab my phone. Off I ran into the padock to try to capture the beauty laid out before me!
By the time I’d undone the gates and run down the track the light was almost gone and a huge front was heading in from the South…the effect even more beautiful! My phone camera just doesn’t capture how amazing it was. I was just carried away with it’s beauty and ran deeper into the woods! (well not really that deep but I was swept away a little) I could see the Black Swans (native to Australia) out on the pond with their little cygnets. I imagine the foxes or eagles have already trimed the flock down already but this clever mum and dad have built a nest smack in the middle of the pond in the hope of protecting their young!
The Swan Family
Like I said…I was swept away on this last winter eve and found myself clambouring through the long grass to sneak a closer look at the swans…I looked down and realised I had my white ugg boots on!! OOPS luckily I just missed treading in the cow pat but my boots were a little worse for wear! Nevermind, it was well worth it!
On the way I saw these lovely jonquils and the fragrance was just good as they looked.
What a way to say goodbye to winter. When I got back to the house I felt absolutely invigorated and I could almost sense change in the air!
And so today SPRING IS HERE! New beginnings, new life and new dreams.
I found this neat shot on my little girls camera today and thought it was quite appropriate for how I am feeling today!
It makes me think that my future is safe in God’s hands. I’ve finally realised that my dreams and my passions and the creative me can find purpose in Him and the context of who He has called me to be. A preachers wife…yep that’s me and that’s a whole ‘nother’ story!
So goodbye Winter and hello Spring – I’m looking forward to see what you bring!
Last week I visited a little stone cottage called the “Magiric Emporium”. It’s an amazing old cottage that has been restored and turned into a a lovely old world cafe’ serving lunchtime treats and Petit-fours. It’s run by two lovely ladies, regular mums who have seized the day and decided to live their dream. I admire their courage and love what they have created!
Every time I walk into a place like this I wonder what it would have been like to live in this era…I often joke that I’d probably be the ‘scullery maid’ rather than the ‘lady of the manor’. Sometimes when I look at how the world has sped ahead and lost so many lovely simple things of the past, I feel sad….but then I guess we wouldn’t have this wonderful opportunity to share our worlds like we do now!
THE COTTAGE IS FILLED WITH DECOR OF THE ERA- NEXT TIME I GO THEY SAID THE OLD CHASE LOUNGE THAT MATCHES THESE CHAIRS WILL BE RESTORED AND IN PLACE BY THE FIRE!
Even tho I embrace this new techno world we live in I still work at keeping some of those things from the past. I love my vintage tea cups, hand made quilts, crochet flowers and funky dishes! I’m think I’ll share some of those things with you on my next post! I have a little dream of one day creating a vintage/retro cafe and maybe even with room for a local co-op where people can share their wares or even home grown veges!! Random I know, but ‘who knows’ it doesn’t hurt to dream does it?
I could have opted for one of the yummy lunch mains but it was just too early in the morning and although the fire was burning inside we opted to sit out on the verandah and brave the cold!
Well, hats off to these two mums who have grabbed hold their dream with two hands! Together they are re-creating a nostalgic little place in the country for us to meet our friends either for a delicious meal or just a coffee and divine home made desert or delicious Petit fours!
SO MY ADVICE IS …..”KEEP DREAMING AND WHO KNOWS ONE DAY YOU MIGHT FIND YOURSELF WRITING OUT A NEW CHAPTER OF YOUR LIFE JUST LIKE THE LADIES AT THE MAJIRIC EMPORIUM!”
Weekends are always busy in our world! I often think that I’d like to spend the days leisurely gardening and crafting but it rarely seems to happen.
Saturdays are taken up mostly with running the little treasures to sports events and by the time that’s over there is little time left but to clean up after the aftermath of a busy morning. Sundays are much the same. We head out early to our church (in the Pub – go figure) and then often spend the afternoons catching up with ‘the flock’.
This weekend, however was a little different. We left our little country town and everything that makes our weekends frantic and headed for the big smoke and A WEDDING IN THE CITY!
Off we went on our little weekend adventure! We thoroughly enjoyed a change of pace and loved the chance to catch up with family and friends.
Everytime I go to a wedding these days I’m blown away by the simple creativity I see! When we got married, many moons ago, I think we had no idea how to do a wedding in style. Looking back I think it may even have been ‘boring’
Even my mere male gets inspired wants to get married all over again! Personally, I think I have too many wrinkles and would rather not in the light of all the photo’s that would be taken taken!
HERE’S A LITTLE PIC OF THE GIRLS IN THE WEDDING PARTY
I love that the photographer had props for their photos!
Sometimes the way the morning light shines on the garden makes me want to dance with joy! It beckons me out from the warmth of indoors and lures me into it’s crisp icy light.
Before long the local cows come by to say “hi” and I find I’m ready to head back inside and face all the endless chores left after getting kids off to school!
Some days I ignore the chores and find that I’m driven to create something, anything, so I either find myself in the garden, or playing my piano or guitar or pondering what I can make with these hands of mine!
Lately, I’ve been teaching myself to crochet little flowers but I’m not sure why! I have this overlocker upstairs that I’m yet to master the art of using. I do wish I would hurry, there’s so many things I could be making or simply just fixing!
But for now the most creative thing I find myself doing is writing – be it word or song – and when I do, I find my cup is more full.
Made in my Father’s image – the great creator! He satisfies me and when I do all this with Him in mind I’m learning to glory in Him and not in my own self importance! It’s a road I’m keen to follow although sometimes I get a little lost in me!
THE FIVE MINUTE GARDEN RULE!
Here’s my little newly planted patch. Humble I know but it’s all I can manage right now!! I once read an article called ‘The Five Minute Gardener’ and since then it’s helped me to realize that I can just work with what I have.
Right now my hubby is recovering from a serious accident and hasn’t been able to help at all with manual things around the house so 5 minutes here and there in the garden can really achieve a lot if you put your mind to it!
I’ve been reading a lot of different blogs lately….mostly vintage, retro, thrifty, crafty blogs and thought why not create my own?
So here I am about to share my world of dreams, some realized, some I’m working towards and some I’m simply dreaming about!
I’ve kept hand written journals for years. Inside the pages are the highs and lows of a life lived, dreams, hopes and passions and the lyrics to a lifetime of songs I’ve written over the years! So I’m hoping blogging will just be a natural process and who knows … I may even finally finish and record some of those songs for you.
So now I’m about to share with the world….I’m hoping I can navigate this ‘all new and somewhat overwhelming’ blog site and create some beautiful pages for you to enjoy and be inspired by!
